5 idyllic truffle farms (with truffle hunting dogs) you’ll want to visit this winter
Winter yields one of the most anticipated produces of the season: the truffle. Sourced by top chefs all over the globe, Australian truffles are considered amongst the world’s best. While many of us savour the flavour of such magnificent fungi, visiting a truffle farm to see how they are harvested (and possibly consumed at brunch / lunch afterwards) is an experience in itself. And no visit is more memorable than seeing truffle hunting dogs in action.
Last year we met Jayson Mesman and his rescue dogs from the The Truffle Farm in picturesque Majura Valley, ACT. This article proved so popular with our readers, many of you wrote in asking us to locate other truffle farms that offer hunts and tours with truffle hunting dogs.
So whether you’re after a wonderful winter hunt on the west coast with The Truffle & Wine Co., or down south in the highlands of Tassie with Cradle Country Farm, we’ve identified five truffle farms with truffle hunting dogs that you will want to visit this winter.
