Owning Daphne and Dexter doesn’t come without its demands. They are both big, boisterous and bouncy. And quite frankly, I know I’m more ‘the butler’ than ‘the boss’ – they remind me of that fact. ALL. THE. TIME.
It’s okay, and I really do expect it. They are my world as I am theirs. But sometimes, just sometimes, I do a tiny jump for joy when I find a product that allows me to take control. And when I say control, I mean that in the best way possible.
The Sporn training harness is just one of those products that I absolutely love. Daphne and Dexter both love to pull when we go for a walk / run. And when I mean pull, I mean they really, really pull. You’d be forgiven for mistaking us as the human / canine entry for the Olympic bobsled team. This dog harness is a game changer, and makes walking them a lot easier.
Why do we love the Sporn dog harnesses so much?
Why do I love the this dog harness so much? Well, let me start with some other harnesses first.
Some harnesses tend to fasten around the body with the ring somewhere at the top. The fact the ring is inserted at the top doesn’t discourage pulling – in fact, it can encourage it. The dog can actually use his / her full body weight at its strongest centre of gravity, which puts pressure on you as well as the dog.
The Sporn training harness however is constructed so that the front straps go around the dog’s chest at the front, under the arms and through the ring at the back. So, when the dog pulls, his / her weight actually tightens the straps around the chest and under the front legs, constricting the dog’s natural leg movement. I find also that this action doesn’t choke the dogs as all the pressure is placed under the dog.
